There's not many pics or recordings of my first Darwin Fringe Festival show. My intent was to create a space where we could connect differently and experience community through story telling and song in the physical form: voice through the person direct and song from vinyl that is often the direct analogue replica of the original recording.

I'm so appreciative of the four incredible people who shared their story of one song that impacted them when they were young. To be vulnerable and open and inspiring and passionate and enable pathways to their memories and influence and own story was amazing 🌌. For us to listen to that song in a shared and connected space certainly hit different 🎶.

The feedback and appreciation has been incredible. Some of the conversations even one month after shows me the enduring impact the story telling and shared listening had. I'm so grateful to the audience in a packed room who connected with this.

For me life is sometimes about trying new things and pushing boundaries and being disruptive and on occasions like this, it worked. I know listening parties and story telling is not new; the framing of the questions and song selection format for this event may have been (to my knowledge). I could feel the energy in the room and following from everyone involved and who shared in this experience.

Planting the seeds now for future events like this 🎶🎬💯🔥❤️

@running_writing and I are so appreciative of all the support and making the 2025 NAIDOC Poetry Slam and Vinyl DJ Set event and workshop a huge success.

Announcement below that we plan to bring this event back in 2026 and to explore more events and ways to be creative and encourage collaborations in these spaces.
